Introduction:
This was an amazing project that we have done over the past couple of weeks. It has been my favorite project so far this year. Annabel, Ely, Emily and I all worked on many dissections and filling in information for the animals we dissected. For this project we were supposed to dissect and then look up different types of animal phylum and explore them in great detail. My personal favorite phylum were the Chordates. Not only are humans in this phylum but it has some of the most complex animals the world has seen. All the phylum were quite intriguing to me but another one that stood out were the Cnidaria because of 1 their cool name and 2 because of how interesting the jellyfish who are in this phylum are. The purpose of this lab was to widen our knowledge of the many organisms that are known to mankind. Overall this project was very fun and I cannot wait to do something like it again.
Reflection:
Over these past couple of weeks we have conducted many dissections that have showed me and my group the complexity of many different animals. We have dissected a sponge(Porifera), jellyfish(Cnidaria), worms(Annelids), fish(Chordata-Osteichthyes), frog(Chordata-Amphibia-Anura). I learned that the anatomy and organs of many different animals differ greatly. Also these dissections and research have taught me how to take the research and learning about the animal into how the animal actually looks like inside. I want to know more about some of the animals that we researched. The time we had to dissect the animals thoroughly was almost a little too short in my opinion. I would have loved to designate about 45 minutes for the dissection so we could completely understand these complex organisms. I enjoyed this project a lot. Although i felt like I did some very good things over the course of this project there is always room to improve. The things I did well were that i seemed to get the job done when it came to the research and filling in of our charts and paragraphs. Another thing that I did well was taking the lead in dissections. Sadly all can not go as planned so one thing I didn't do all that well was staying on task. I seemed to get distracted quickly during this project. Another thing I didn't do very well this project was doing my paragraphs on time. Overall i feel like this project went well and i cannot wait to do something similar again.
